The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono club of Galgotias University successfully conducted a plantation drive on 26th April 2025 at two schools - Government Primary School, Bhaipur Brahmann, and Government Senior Secondary School, Muhfad Dhankaur. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to participate in sustainable practices on the occasion of World Earth Day.

The event began at the Bhaipur Brahmann school and continued at Muhfad Dhankaur School, where around 36 saplings of Heena and Hibiscus was planted. An awareness session on the need for afforestation and water conservation was also conducted. 18 students from legal aid clinic took part in the drive and were accompanied by one faculty member. The plantation drive was a significant step toward creating green spaces in school campuses and instilling a sense of responsibility among the youth.

Event Detailed Description

A plantation drive was conducted on 26th April 2025 at two educational institutions — the Government Primary School, Bhaipur Brahmann, and the Government Senior Secondary School, Muhfad Dhankaur by Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Club of Galgotias University. The initiative was undertaken with the objective of promoting environmental awareness, increasing green cover, and instilling a sense of ecological responsibility among students on World Earth Day. 

The programme commenced at the Government Primary School, Bhaipur Brahmann, in the morning hours. The event began with brief address by the school principal. In her remarks, he underscored the significance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and combating the adverse effects of climate change. In her address she also highlighted the fact that, the school was inaugurated by planting 100 saplings out of which only 20 are remaining. Following the welcome note, the volunteers planted saplings of Heena and Hibiscus within the school premises. The students, guided by teachers and volunteers, were actively involved in the planting process and received instructions on how to nurture and care for the saplings.

In the second phase of the event, the plantation drive was carried out at the Government Senior Secondary School, Muhfad Dhankaur. Prior to the plantation activity, an environmental awareness session was conducted to educate students on the importance of afforestation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.

In total, over 36 saplings were planted during the day. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from 18 volunteers who accompanied the faculty member. The event not only contributed to the enhancement of the school environments but also provided an experiential learning opportunity, sensitizing students to the importance of environmental stewardship.

This plantation drive served as a meaningful step towards creating greener educational spaces while empowering students to act as proactive custodians of nature. It reinforced the message that lasting environmental change begins at the community level, through collective action and sustained awareness.
