Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jayanti was celebrated by NSS Unit-1 at Galgotias University, Greater Noida on 12th April 2024 10.00am at Lecture Theatre Hall A-207.

Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was an Indian activist, thinker, social reformer and writer from Maharashtra. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule was not just a visionary thinker; he was a revolutionary who challenged the oppressive social norms of his time. Born into a society plagued by caste discrimination and social inequality, Phule recognized the inherent injustice in the prevailing social structure and dedicated his life to fighting against it.

One of Phule's most significant contributions was his relentless advocacy for education. He firmly believed that education was the key to emancipating the oppressed masses from the shackles of ignorance and exploitation. Phule, along with his wife Savitribai Phule, pioneered the movement for universal education and girls' education in India at a time when such ideas were considered radical.

Phule's commitment to social equality extended beyond education. He vehemently opposed the caste system and worked tirelessly to uplift the marginalized communities, particularly the lower castes and women. He founded schools for the untouchables, opened up libraries, and championed the cause of widow remarriage, challenging the deeply entrenched social norms of his era.
