The event not only fostered mindfulness and health consciousness among participants but also reinforced the institution’s commitment to holistic development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Event Detailed Description:
In an era where mental stress, lifestyle disorders, and emotional burnout are increasingly affecting students and professionals alike, especially in demanding fields such as law, the celebration of International Yoga Day 2025 by the School of Law at Galgotias University emerged as a thoughtful and visionary initiative. The Legal Aid Clinic and the Pro Bono Club, both integral components of the School of Law's student welfare and outreach framework, took the lead in organizing this wellness-driven event on 21st June 2025.
The event commenced early in the morning at the Main Stage Arena of Galgotias University, a serene and spacious venue chosen to accommodate large participation while maintaining a peaceful environment suitable for meditation and yoga. The morning air, the vibrant energy of the participants, and the solemnity of the occasion set the tone for an uplifting and transformative experience.
The session was inaugurated by a brief welcome address that emphasized the universal and secular relevance of yoga, followed by a talk on its scientific benefits and spiritual significance. Professional yoga instructors were invited to lead the session, ensuring that participants could safely and correctly perform each posture and breathing exercise. The session included:
- Basic Warm-up Exercises: To activate muscles and loosen joints.
- Yoga Asanas (Postures): Including Tadasana (Mountain Pose), Trikonasana (Triangle Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose), and Vrikshasana (Tree Pose) which are known for improving posture, flexibility, and stability.
- Pranayama (Breath Regulation): Including Anulom Vilom and Kapalbhati, focused on enhancing respiratory strength, calming the nervous system, and improving concentration.
- Dhyana (Meditation): To build emotional balance, focus, and inner peace.
The instructors explained the health benefits of each technique, linking them with common physical and mental ailments faced by students—such as anxiety, fatigue, sleeplessness, and lack of concentration.
The significance of the program went far beyond the physical act of performing yoga. As law students and future professionals responsible for delivering justice and upholding rights, the participants were reminded that inner peace, personal discipline, and emotional clarity are vital to their journey. The event emphasized how wellness is foundational to ethical leadership and social responsibility.
