Hands-on Workshop on Resistance Band Training

He Department of Physiotherapy, Galgotias University, organized a Hands-on Workshop on Resistance Band Training on 24th May 2025 for final-year BPT and master's students. The aim of the workshop was to provide participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills on the use of resistance bands in physiotherapy.
The event began at 9:00 AM with registration and arrival of participants, followed by a formal inauguration at 9:15 AM. The Welcome Speech and inaugural address were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Shagun Agrawal, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, who emphasized the clinical relevance of resistance band training in modern rehabilitation.
The expert speaker for the day was Dr. Md Majjid Khan (PT), Founder and Director of Körperkraft HOD and Senior Consultant at Pushpanjali Medical Centre, Delhi. He conducted four comprehensive sessions throughout the day.
The first session at 10:00 AM covered the theory of resistance band training, including biomechanics, indications, contraindications, and clinical applications. Dr. Khan highlighted how resistance bands can be integrated into rehab for various conditions.
Session 2, starting at 11:30 AM, included a hands-on practical demonstration. Students actively participated in learning and practicing various resistance band exercises under Dr. Khan’s guidance, focusing on strength, flexibility, and functional training.
After the lunch break at 1:00 PM, the third session began at 2:00 PM with interactive case discussions and a Q&A round. Dr. Khan discussed real-world clinical cases and encouraged students to apply their understanding to develop treatment plans.
At 3:00 PM, the final session covered advanced techniques and applications of resistance band training in areas such as sports injuries, neurological rehab, and geriatrics.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks at 4:00 PM by the organizing team, followed by a Memento Presentation to Dr. Khan by Dean Dr. Shagun Agrawal. A group photograph session was held at 4:30 PM, marking the end of the workshop.
The workshop was coordinated successfully by Dr. Sajjad Alam (Event Coordinator) and Dr. Nidhi Oza (Event Sub-Coordinator). The event was well-received by all participants and proved to be an enriching experience, combining theory, practice, and interaction to enhance the clinical readiness of future physiotherapists.
