Faculty Development programme on "Empowering Research through Data Analysis Tools: A Quantitative Approach
Event Date – 27th May - 31st may, 2025
Event brief description – School of Finance and Commerce, Galgotias University has organised Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Empowering Research through Data Analysis Tools: A Quantitative Approach" . The aims of FDP is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application by equipping faculty members, researchers, and academicians with essential skills in data analysis. The programme focuses on enhancing research capabilities through the effective use of modern statistical tools, software applications, and quantitative techniques.
Event Detailed Description – In today's data-driven academic and professional environment, the ability to conduct high-quality research using quantitative tools is more essential than ever. The FDP will use a mix of pedagogical tools such as cases, lectures, discussions, presentations, audio-visuals, hands-on practice, and experimental exercises.
A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Empowering Research through Data Analysis Tools: A Quantitative Approach” was successfully conducted with the aim of equipping faculty members, research scholars, and academicians with the necessary quantitative data analysis tools and techniques. The programme was designed to foster analytical thinking, enhance data interpretation skills, and promote the use of statistical software for high-quality research outcomes.
The session focused on the foundation of research methodology, covering essential topics such as:Types of data,Research design,Sampling techniques and Data collection methods. The expert speaker emphasized the role of a well-defined research design in producing valid and reliable results. Real-world examples and case scenarios were used to make the session engaging and practical.
The second day explored factor and cluster analysis. Participants were introduced to the practical applications of these techniques in various fields of social science and management research through cases and illustrative examples.
Third day focused hands-on experience of SPSS, enabling participants to input and manage datasets. Generate visual outputs for research presentation, live demonstrations and guided exercises helped participants apply their learning on real datasets.
Fourth day of FDP introduced Python as a versatile tool for data analytics. The interactive coding session encouraged participants to experiment with open-source data tools.
The concluding day covered data analysis in R, focusing on importing data and writing scripts for analysis Participants appreciated the clarity with which complex functions and packages were explained, making R approachable for beginners.
