Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Emerging Trends and Techniques in Research Paper Writing and Conferring Intellectual Property Rights”

The Department of Pharmacy, School of Medical and Allied Sciences at Galgotias University, in collaboration with the University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia, successfully organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Emerging Trends and Techniques in Research Paper Writing and Conferring Intellectual Property Rights.”

Held from 6th to 10th August 2024, the program featured insightful sessions by experts, focusing on the latest trends in research methodology and the significance of intellectual property rights in academia. The event attracted a diverse group of faculty members, providing them with valuable knowledge to enhance their research and academic endeavors.

Day 1: Inaugural Ceremony and Opening Invited Talk

The inaugural ceremony began promptly at 10:30 AM, welcoming participants and guests with a warm reception. The event featured a series of influential speeches, starting with Dr. Gaurav Kumar, IIC Head, who spoke on "Innovation & Entrepreneurship @GU," setting the tone for the day's proceedings.

Following this, Dr. S.K. Abdul Rahaman, Dean of SMAS at Galgotias University, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, laying the groundwork for the ceremony. The inaugural address was given by Dr. David Whitford, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia, who shared insights into global academic collaboration and innovation.

The highlight of the event was Address by Prof. (Dr.) K. Mallikharjuna Babu, Vice Chancellor of Galgotias University. Prof. Babu emphasized the university’s dedication to promoting innovation and achieving academic excellence, underscoring the institution’s commitment to advancing educational standards and fostering a culture of excellence.

The first invited talk of the International Faculty Development Program (FDP) featured Dr. Vijay Mishra, Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Lovely Professional University, Punjab. In his engaging presentation titled "Comprehensive Study and Formulation of Research/Review Title Based on Project-Based Learning," Dr. Mishra offered valuable insights into enhancing research projects within educational frameworks. His talk emphasized effective strategies for structuring research projects, utilizing project-based learning to improve academic outcomes and foster a deeper understanding of complex subjects. This session set a high standard for the FDP, providing attendees with practical tools and methodologies to elevate their own research and teaching practices.

Day 2: Exploring Research-Based Learning and Scientific Journals

he second day of the conference featured two insightful sessions. Prof. S.K. Abdul Rahaman captivated attendees with his presentation on "Research-Based Learning Impact on IPR for Startups and Entrepreneurship," highlighting the critical role of intellectual property rights in fostering innovation and supporting new ventures. Following this, Dr. Gaurav Kumar offered an in-depth exploration of "Exploring Scientific Journals: Key Metrics, Impacts, and Indexing Databases," providing valuable guidance on navigating the world of academic publishing, including essential metrics and indexing practices crucial for researchers.

Day 3: Tackling Peer Review Challenges

On the third day of the conference, Prof. Mariani Binti Ahmad Nizaruddin from the University of Cyberjaya, Malaysia, presented an engaging session titled "Case Study Based Approach to Resolve Peer Reviewer Comments." The session offered participants valuable strategies and practical tools to effectively address the complexities of the peer review process in academic publishing. Prof. Nizaruddin's insights provided a comprehensive framework for managing

reviewer feedback and enhancing the quality of academic submissions. Attendees left equipped with actionable techniques to improve their handling of peer review challenges.

Day 4: Innovative Techniques in Research Design

On the fourth day of the conference, Dr. Mukesh Roy from the Office of Clinical Research at Baptist Health Hospital in Florida captivated attendees with his presentation on "Emerging Techniques to Design Graphical Abstract and Perfect Image." Dr. Roy's talk delved into the latest advancements in creating effective and visually appealing graphical abstracts—a critical component in modern academic research. Emphasizing the growing importance of clear and compelling visual representations, he showcased cutting-edge tools and methods that can enhance the impact and clarity of research presentations. His insights provided valuable guidance for researchers aiming to effectively communicate their findings through innovative and professional imagery.

Day 5: The Role of AI in Academic Integrity

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) concluded with an insightful keynote address by Dr. Sathvik B. Sridhar, a Professor at RAK College of Pharmacy, RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, UAE. Dr. Sridhar's presentation, titled "Role of Artificial Intelligence in Plagiarism for Impact Publications," explored the intersection of AI technology and academic integrity. He examined the ethical challenges and technological advancements associated with using AI tools to detect and prevent plagiarism, highlighting their crucial role in upholding the standards of scholarly publications. His talk provided valuable perspectives on how AI can support the integrity of academic work while addressing potential concerns and limitations in its application.

The week-long event wrapped up with an engaging feedback session, where participants had the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and share valuable insights gained throughout the week.
