The Literary Society and the Internship & Placement Cell of the School of Law at Galgotias University organized an expert lecture on “Interplay between Law & Literature: UPSC as a Career for Law Students” by Dr. Vijender Chauhan, Associate Professor, Zakir Hussain College, University of Delhi, on 14th June 2025.
Dr. Chauhan, a renowned academician and mentor for UPSC aspirants across India, visited various departments and classrooms before the session, appreciating Galgotias' use of modern pedagogy and infrastructure. He commended the GSCALE initiative and the dynamic student-faculty interaction he observed, especially in a Discrete Mathematics class.
During his keynote address, Dr. Chauhan drew upon the works of Kafka, Premchand, and Badi Uzma to illustrate how literature informs and inspires legal thought and reform. He argued that law students are naturally inclined toward civil services due to their strong interpretative and analytical skills. He emphasized how literary sensibilities are critical in comprehending complex societal issues and sustaining motivation through the challenging UPSC preparation process.
The session saw active participation from students, who raised thoughtful questions about subject strategies, optional papers, and interdisciplinary preparation. Dr. Chauhan encouraged cultivating reading habits, philosophical engagement, and narrative clarity to excel both as administrators and legal professionals.
A luncheon with Mr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO, followed the event, where further discussions were held on legal education reform, policy involvement, and institutional partnerships. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Anuja Mishra on behalf of the organizing committees and patrons: Chancellor Mr. Suneel Galgotia, CEO Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, and Director Operations Ms. Aradhana Galgotia.
Outcomes
