Educational visit to Shri Ram Chandra Mission, SRCM Heartfulness, Gurugram

Event Date: 21-03-2025

On Friday, 21st March 2025, Faculty members and students from the School of Liberal Education & School of Languages embarked on an educational tour to Shri Ram Chandra Mission, SRCM Heartfulness, in Gurugram. The visit provided a unique opportunity to explore sustainable agricultural practices, environmental conservation, and mindfulness techniques.

Upon arrival, we were introduced to the historical significance of the site, where we saw a statue of Guru Dronacharya, after whom the city of Gurugram is named. This location was once the Gurukul of Guru Dronacharya, where he imparted knowledge to his disciples. We then explored the centre’s organic farming initiatives, which include seasonal vegetable cultivation, hydroponic farming methods such as direct water-based cultivation and cocopeat-based growth, and the production of organic manure. The innovative ‘Activated By Charcoal’ (ABC) technique used in their dense forest conservation demonstrated the importance of natural fertilizers in maintaining soil health.

Additionally, we learned about the centre’s renewable energy initiatives, including the use of solar panels to reduce electricity consumption. A particularly fascinating discovery was the Palm Bael plant, historically used as a climbing vine. We also observed the community engagement at the centre, where nearly 500 visitors participate in meditation sessions every Sunday. The children’s play area and the book and nursery section highlighted the centre’s commitment to holistic development and well-being.

One of the most enlightening aspects of the visit was the session on stress management and mental well-being. The meditation session guided us through unique cleaning techniques designed to remove mental burdens and foster inner peace. Through deep breathing exercises and relaxation methods, we experienced a sense of calmness and clarity. The practice emphasized letting go of past worries and negativity, allowing the mind to rejuvenate and focus on the present. These techniques are particularly beneficial in managing stress, improving concentration, and enhancing overall emotional well-being.

We also gained knowledge about Microgreens, a highly nutritious stage between sprouts and full-grown plants, and their cultivation using controlled conditions.

This visit was an enriching blend of environmental awareness, scientific learning, and personal well-being. It offered valuable insights into sustainable practices and the importance of mindfulness, leaving a lasting impact on all the students and faculties.
