Event Detailed Description- On Friday, May 30, 2025, students and faculty members from the School of Liberal Education and the School of Languages, Galgotias University, had the exceptional opportunity to visit the Indian Parliament in New Delhi — the epicenter of India’s democratic governance and the beating heart of the world’s largest democracy. This visit was part of the University's ongoing efforts to bridge academic learning with real-world experience, allowing students to engage directly with the institutions that shape the nation’s political landscape.

The educational excursion was meticulously planned to ensure a comprehensive exposure to the working and structure of India’s parliamentary system. Students explored both the newly inaugurated Parliament building, which represents the aspirations of a modern India, and the historic old Parliament house, which has witnessed some of the most defining moments of India’s democratic journey. This rare opportunity to experience both spaces offered students a unique perspective on the evolution of India's legislative and constitutional history.

During the visit, students had the privilege of viewing the Lok Sabha (House of the People), the Rajya Sabha (Council of States), and the iconic Central Hall, where many pivotal speeches, debates, and discussions have taken place since independence. The Central Hall, in particular, resonated deeply with students, as it is the site where India’s independence was formally announced and the Constitution of India was adopted.

In addition to the legislative chambers, students were also taken to the Parliamentary Library, which houses a vast repository of books, documents, and records on Indian polity, law, and governance. This visit sparked interest among many students to further engage with primary sources for research and political writing. The group also visited the inspirational Prerna Sthal, a dedicated space honoring the contributions of key national leaders who played vital roles in shaping the Indian Republic.

A highlight of the day was a detailed presentation conducted by senior Parliament officials. This session provided students with an overview of the structure, powers, and functioning of the Parliament. The officials explained how legislative business is conducted, the roles of various committees, and the intricate procedures involved in the passage of bills. The session was highly interactive and concluded with a question-and-answer round, during which students posed thoughtful queries about law-making, political accountability, and recent legislative developments.

Guided tours throughout the Parliament complex enabled students to navigate the vast premises while listening to engaging historical narratives. Walking through the same halls where India’s leaders deliberate and shape the nation’s future left many students feeling deeply inspired and connected to their democratic heritage.

This visit was more than just a field trip — it was an immersive learning experience that brought political theories, constitutional values, and democratic principles to life.
