Career Counselling: Fostering Skill based Education in schools

The School of Education organized an informative alumni talk on 13th September 2024. The guest speaker, Ms. Akansha Parihar, a proud alumna of Galgotias University, discussed the importance of fostering skill-based education in today’s classrooms. With her current role as a Primary Teacher (PRT) at Zigyasa Udayan G-techno School, New Delhi, Ms. Parihar provided practical insights into implementing skill-based education effectively in schools. Ms. Parihar shared her journey from completing her education degree to becoming a teacher. She emphasized the need to go beyond traditional methods of teaching and integrate skill-based learning into the curriculum to prepare students for real-life challenges. She highlighted how teachers can foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem- solving abilities in young students. These skills are crucial for students to succeed in the 21st century, where information is easily accessible but the application of knowledge is key. Ms. Parihar discussed various strategies that teachers can use to make learning more engaging. She focused on activity-based learning, project work, and interactive teaching methods that allow students to develop and apply skills such as collaboration, communication, and decision-making.

In her talk, Ms. Akansha Parihar expressed heartfelt thanks to all her teachers and mentors who played an integral role in shaping her as an educator. She acknowledged that the knowledge, guidance, and support she received during her time at Galgotias University and throughout her career have been instrumental in her success
