Event brief description – The School of Commerce at Galgotias University has organized an Alumni Talk titled “Career Compass: Smooth Transition from Academia to Industry” on 18th May 2025 from 2:00 PM at Galgotias Knowledge Centre in AI- DS Block. The session was conducted by Mr. Ankit Sharma, an esteemed alumnus of MBA (FM), Batch 2020-22, currently working as a Fraud Analyst at Accertify Inc., an American Express company.

Event Detailed Description – The School of Commerce at Galgotias University organized an insightful alumni talk titled “Career Compass: Smooth Transition from Academia to Industry” on Sunday, 18th May 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Galgotias Knowledge Centre, AI-DS Block. The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry exposure.

The event featured Mr. Ankit Sharma, an esteemed alumnus of the MBA (Financial Management) Batch 2020–22, currently working as a Fraud Analyst at Accertify Inc., an American Express Company. The session was convened by Dr. Anurag Kumar Saxena, Dean of the School of Commerce, and organized by Ms. Viveka Rohilla, Alumni and Event Coordinator, SOC.

Around 50 students from the School of Commerce actively participated in the event, engaging with great enthusiasm and curiosity. Drawing from his own experiences, Mr. Sharma shared valuable insights into the challenges and expectations of corporate life post-MBA. He stressed the importance of internships, communication skills, adaptability, time management, and continuous learning for a successful career.

He also elaborated on the role of practical knowledge in the finance domain, particularly in fraud analytics, and emphasized the growing demand for data literacy and ethical responsibility. Mr. Sharma highlighted how academic projects, case studies and GCS experience during his time at Galgotias helped shape his analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are vital in his current role.

The talk was both motivational and informative, providing students with a clear vision of transitioning into the corporate world. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many students requesting more such interactive and career-oriented sessions in the future.
