Awareness Program on drug de-addiction and rehabilitation

The School of Education at Galgotias University organized an awareness program as part of a special assembly on 18 July 2024 to address the critical issues of drug de-addiction and rehabilitation. The primary aim of the assembly was to raise awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of rehabilitation for those affected. This event aimed to raise awareness, educate students, and promote a drug-free environment through a series of engaging activities, including a skit, speech, pledge, and poems. This program helped to educate students about the detrimental effects of drug abuse and to showcase the importance of rehabilitation for those affected by drug addiction. It encourages students to commit to a drug-free lifestyle. A powerful skit was performed by students, depicting the journey of an individual from addiction to recovery. The skit emphasized the social and personal impact of drug abuse. The role of family and friends in the recovery process. The significance of seeking help and rehabilitation. The student delivered a speech on drug de-addiction and rehabilitation. Key points included: The physiological and psychological effects of drug addiction, Real-life stories of overcoming addiction, and Resources and support systems available for rehabilitation. Students recited poems they had written, expressing the emotional and societal impacts of drug addiction. A pledge ceremony was conducted, where students collectively took a pledge to abstain from drugs and support those in need. The pledge was led by Shaurya Sharma, a B.Ed., and included commitments to:
- Maintain a drug-free lifestyle
- Support peers in their efforts to stay drug-free
- Promote awareness and education about the dangers of drug abuse.
The event was a resounding success, leaving students more informed and motivated to contribute to a drug-free campus.
