Academic Visit to Biogas Plant and Dairy Management

Event Date: 23-05-2025

Objective of the Visit:

To provide students with a hands-on learning experience focused on animal care, sustainable technology, and rural development.

Students from the School of Liberal Education undertook a field visit to a Biogas Plant and Dairy Management Unit in collaboration with Try NGO on 23 May 2025. The visit offered a unique blend of academic learning and social engagement, promoting awareness about sustainability, animal welfare, and the integration of technology in rural sectors. The following are key points of the visit.

  • Exposure to Large-Scale Animal Welfare:
Students observed the management of over 700 cows, including healthy, sick, and injured animals. The compassionate care and systematic approach to animal welfare left a lasting impact.
  • Hands-On Volunteering:
Participants actively engaged in feeding cows with fodder and jaggery, gaining first-hand insight into animal service and responsibility.
  • Use of Smart Technology:
It was remarkable to witness how smart collars were used to monitor each cow’s health, body temperature, and movements. Data was accessible via a mobile-based dashboard, showcasing effective use of tech for good.
  • Interaction with Research Team:
Students interacted with an ongoing research team studying cow behavior patterns, which was followed by an enriching question and answer session.
  • Talk by Mr. Ankit, President – Try NGO:
Mr. Ankit delivered an insightful session on the NGO’s work in milk and ghee distribution and community welfare. He also encouraged students to explore opportunities in social responsibility and volunteerism.
  • Biogas Plant Visit:
The visit concluded with an educational tour of the biogas plant, where students learned how cow dung is transformed into clean cooking energy, used by the staff kitchen — a brilliant example of eco-sustainability in action.

Outcomes of the Visit:

  • Greater understanding of sustainable agriculture and animal husbandry.
  • Real-time exposure to rural innovations and clean energy practices.
  • Enhanced student interest in rural development, social entrepreneurship, and community service
