Aditya Kumar

Assistant Professor

With 17 years of rich and diverse experience in journalism, audio production, filmmaking, and academics, Aditya Kumar is a seasoned media professional dedicated to storytelling and innovation. Having built a strong foundation in the media industry, he transitioned into academia to shape the next generation of filmmakers and media professionals.

Before joining Galgotias University, he was associated with Delhi School of Journalism, Delhi University as Assistant Professor (Guest). He holds MA in Mass Communication from Banaras Hindu University (2007) and an Executive MBA in Marketing Management from Kuvempu University (2014), along with a UGC NET qualification in Mass Communication (2022).

As an educator he previously taught Digital Filmmaking and VFX at ITM Skill University, Mumbai, and Srinivas University, Mangalore, where his students of B.Sc. Digital Filmmaking students won 40+ awards and mentions at various film festivals. Known for a value-based teaching approach, he incorporate storytelling to inspire students toward innovation and entrepreneurship.

With expertise in Journalism, Filmmaking, Cinematography, Screenplay Writing, Photography and Sound Design, he continues to bridge the gap between industry and academia, mentoring aspiring media professionals through practical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Industry Experience

With extensive industry experience, he has held key positions in various media organizations:

  • Lead - Creative Production - OnMobile Studio, Bangalore : Managed creative production, scripting, audio production, and team supervision while ensuring content alignment with campaign objectives.
  • Senior Producer - Asianet Newsable : Led editorial and digital content production, introduced new digital shows, and executed special coverage, including reporting on Jallikattu and Jayalalithaa’s legacy from Chennai.
  • Video Producer - Newsweek Group, IB Times : Produced over five news-based videos daily, handled live streamings, and managed copyright and legal matters related to video content.
  • Correspondent - Woman’s Era, Delhi Press Group: Covered political, social, and cultural topics, publishing over 25 byline stories with a special focus on the arts.
  • Assistant Editor - ZeitGeist Asia, a monthly international political magazine. 
  • Correspondent - The Day After, Fortnightly Poltical and Economy Magazine published since 1985.

  • Two short films 'Saathiya' and 'Welcome Red' were streamed on Disney Hotstar. Welcome Red got multiple awards & recognition: Best Actor Female- Pink City International Film festival ; Best Jury award- Bettiah International Film festival; Best Short Film - 3rd Rank, Gully International Film festival: Semi Finalist- Africa films for social impact
