Post Graduate Programs
M.Tech in Chemical Engineering
M.Tech. program in Chemical Engineering promotes development of practical, laboratory-based skills combined with expertise in computing and simulation in addition to core Chemical Engineering courses. The students will develop expertise under the guidance of experienced faculty for their research in areas such as reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, plant and equipment design, simulation, environmental studies, etc. With a focus on multidisciplinary research and education, the vision of School of Chemical Engineering is to be globally known for innovations and cutting edge research. The students can have the opportunity to complete an individual design project and an industry-based research project and also, they are able to choose from a variety of subjects to develop specialized knowledge and skills in the chemical engineering field.
B.E/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks or equivalent in CGPA in relevant discipline
Chemical Engineering is a unique discipline in the engineering profession in that it requires a strong foundation in chemical principles as well as in the physical and engineering sciences common to all branches of engineering. An education in chemical engineering is one of the broadest offerings in the engineering profession. A chemical engineer may find employment in all phases of technical operations. Chemical process industries supply society with a vast array of products including chemicals, fuels, plastics, metals, foods, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and cryogenic materials. In recent years, chemical engineers have found employment in the microelectronics industry and in the advanced materials, biochemical and biomedical engineering fields. Chemical engineers also serve society by reducing and eliminating pollution.
At a time of growing public concern about issues such as waste management, energy consumption and human and environmental health, among many others, chemical engineers have a vital role to play in society. Research based thinking on the part of chemical engineers is also essential for the development and implementation of more efficient, safer and more environmentally friendly production processes and machinery
Most graduates start working after they have finished their Master's. Many find jobs in the chemical industry or the non-profit sector. A number of graduates choose to pursue research careers by applying for a PhD position.
