Dr. Sunil Rawat is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Physics, School of Basic and Applied Sciences. He joined Galgotias University in 2023. Before joining Galgotias University, he was working as a Project Research Scientist at Mechanical Engineering Department, IIT Bombay, Mumbai, from 2021 to 2023. He received his B.Sc.[Hons] and M.Sc. degrees from Aligarh Muslim University in 2002 and 2005, respectively. He completed his Ph.D. from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai (India) in 2013. After completing his Ph.D., he has worked as a postdoc fellow at Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar (India), IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur (India), National University of Singapore (Singapore), and IIT Bombay, Mumbai (India). He has published more than 17 research papers in peer-reviewed International/National journals and conference proceedings with more than 272 citations. His areas of interest are high-pressure physics, radiation damage, electromagnetic coilgun, impact and penetration problems, behaviour of materials under extreme conditions, nano-scale behaviour of materials, high strain rate deformation and fracture, microstructural evolution, determination of material properties, molecular dynamics simulations, computational materials science, and multi-scale materials modelling.
