The School of Business, Galgotias University organized the first International Conference on 'Paradigm Shift in Management and Technology' (ICPSMT-2K18) on Saturday, 28th July 2018. The aim of the conference was shed light on the changing trends in both in management and technology.
The Chief Guest at the Conference was Ms. Meharnaaz Zahir, Director-HR (Asia-Pacific), Pearson Vue and the Guest of Honor was Ms. Akshara Seth, Chief Operating Officer, HR-Powerhouse. The Honorable Vice Chancellor, Galgotias University also graced the conference with her presence. The inaugural session sparked interest of the audience as the various speakers covered different aspects of the paradigm shift in management and technology. The Honorable Vice Chancellor shared her views on the paradigm shifts in management and technology and its impact on the education sector, the shift that is occurring now where the students have the option of moving away from traditional classrooms and pursuing the education online through MOOC&rsquos (Massive Online Open Courseware) and SWAYAM &ndash a Government of India initiative.
Ms. Meharnaaz Zahir, Director-HR (Asia-Pacific), Pearson Vue, shared her experiences on the paradigm shift in management and technology especially in the field of human resources where she highlighted the creativeness of the hiring practices by the organization and how social media platform is being distinctly used in finding talented employees. She also highlighted the need of being cross functional in terms of talent making use of the example of Japan where the person hired in sales may not have pursued his or her education in sales and marketing.
Ms. Akshara Seth, Chief Operating Officer, HR Powerhouse, observed how the paradigm shift is now universal in nature. Starting from education to all the way in the organization, the shift has affected us all. She, then, went on to highlight the importance of these shift and problems HR encounters when managing employees from different generations. She also touched upon the need and importance of Big Data and data analytics in the present era and how everything has become in the organizations is becoming data driven.
Dr. Sadananda Prusty, Dean, School of Business, Galgotias Univeristy, highlighted the paradigm shifts that have occurred in the Indian economy and how we have become more technology driven. The digitalization of the Indian financial sector, the rise of the BHIM and UPIs in banking sector to the popularity of the microfinance that has made security loans redundant was also covered. He talked about how the Indian government has recognized the need for change through its initiatives like MUDRA and introduction of the new tax system under Good and Sales Tax (GST). He also highlighted the ease for entrepreneurs to work as most of the work is terms of incorporation can be done online.
The conference had received an overwhelming amount of research papers from research scholars, academicians and corporate from both national and international institutions and had to incorporate 2 technical sessions. These technical sessions with roughly about fifteen papers each were presented. These technical sessions highlighted the paradigm shifts in the field of finance, human resources, banking, marketing, advertising and data analytics. An award was presented to The Best Research Paper and The Best Presenter at these technical sessions. The conference ended with a vote of thanks from the conference convener Dr. Anamika Pandey.
