A-Field trip visit to Vishwas Mental Health Care was organized on for B.A(H) Psychology students of first and second year. The objective of the visit was to enlighten their knowledge about mental disabilities and enable them to know how to help such people and institutes in future.
Learning objectives of the field visit to the Mental Health Care Centre were-
Develop knowledge about the physical and psychological effects of specific medical conditions, treatments and procedures and their implications for family and individual adjustment and neuro-cognitive risk within a developmental context.
Select and provide appropriate and effective psychological interventions (e.g., cognitive behavioural, play, family, and individual therapy).
Use supervision in an open, constructive manner. Know when to seek additional supervision. This is meant to teach an approach to professional practice that will be ongoing throughout an individual's professional life.
Be sensitive to the complexity of issues involved in mental health care.
Demonstrate the ability to discuss in supervision those behaviours, personal characteristics, and concerns that might aid or interfere with one's effectiveness as a psychologist.
Manage personal stress, one's own adjustment and/or emotional responses in a way that does not affect the normal functioning of an individual.
Ascertaining the impact of both positive and negative human behaviour on the physical health
B. Women's day celebration has taken place on 08.03.2018 in C- block auditorium. Objective of celebrating women's day was to show love and gratitude towards women. This is the day when women are recognized for their achievement in past, present and future. Guest of honor for the event was Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr) Renu Luthra. Program started with the welcome speech by Dean, SHSS Prof Dr Sujaan Singh Negi, followed by motivational speech by VC Madam Prof Luthra. Students presented sapling as a token of appreciation to the dignitaries. Program was full of cultural presentation of students of SHSS, including dance based on the theme 'Ardhanarishwar', Group songs and skit. Program ended with high tea and distribution of surprise gifts.
C. Mental Health Awareness day-Interschool MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIN ( involving students of School of Education and students of SHSS) was held on 05thApril 2018 (Thursday) in C Block lobby to accomplish world health day theme, 'Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere' held on 07.04.2018 with the following objectives-
OBJECTIVE 1-Awareness towards mental health and breaking stigma of mental health issues in Indian society.
OBJECTIVE 2- Guidance, Counseling and Psychological testing services to be provided to the students and faculty members of Galgotias University.
Students' presented posters in C Block main lobby showing awareness about the importance of mental health awareness. Psychological testing services were provided to those who have taken interest in to it. Students of school of education were made learn about some basic test related to assessment of personality, stress and anxiety. Process involved introduction, administration, scoring and interpretation of tests.
