Rural camp gives an opportunity to the students of SHSS to get rural exposure, rural life style, to understand rural realities like education status, health status, occupation status, social and political status of the village.. Keeping above objective in mind a rural camp was organized by SHSS in coordination of department of sociology on 13 Feb.2018.
During rural camp the students remained in a rural village named ATTA GUJRAN for experience and make a study of the different elements and structure of the village. The students were expected to make an analysis of the living condition of the people, status of health hygiene, nutrition, social, economic problems in that locality. This camp helped the students in understanding the core of rural society ,life, their problems and needs and to help them in preparing a plan for social support intervention and community development. The camps was unique in nature and scope. All students of BA(H)First in SHSS participated and identified the needs and interests of the people through professional interactions. The participation and cooperation of people was judged and preliminary information was collected to chalk out need based programmes. During the camp the faculty members, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Chaudhary, Dr. Saleem Ahmad, Ms Priya Sahrawat, Ms.Aisa Quadri, and camp coordinator Dr A P Pandey supervised and helped students understand rural community the community from various point of views. Certain recreational programmes were also incorporated to ease the stress and strain that would otherwise result from the continuous mental and physical work that students will have to put in. This camp also motivated students to work more. This was a great initiative taken by SHSS to get rural exposure for the students and to bear social responsibility towards open communities
