Students visit Honda Cars India Limited

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) is a subsidiary of the Honda of Japan for the production, marketing and export of passenger cars in India. HCIL's first manufacturing unit was set up at Greater Noida, U.P in 1997. The green field project is spread across 150 acres and has an annual production capacity of 100,000 units.
Students and a few faculty members got the opportunity to visit the state of the art cars manufacturing facility of Honda Cars India Limited in Greater Noida on 10th November 2014.
The students were shown a presentation about Honda's historical evolution as the 8th largest car manufacturer in the world and about this particular unit which was setup at an initial investment of over Rs. 4.5 billion. The initial capacity of the plant was 30,000 cars per annum, which was thereafter increased to 50,000 cars on a two-shift basis. The capacity has further been enhanced to 100,000 units annually as of 2008.
They were also told about various products being manufactured at the Greater Noida plant. Then the students were taken for a visit to the production line where the senior managers explained the student about the various steps in the production process. The students experienced the excitement observing and knowing about various process, quality checks, and commercial marketing activities concerning this business.
After the visit to the production floor, the students again assembled in the seminar hall where they were told about HCIL focus on global viewpoint, quality and efficiency. There was a question answer round wherein all the queries of the students were satisfactorily answered by the HR Manager. The students were delighted with the exposure and knowledge they received from the visit. The students remarked All in all it was a fruitful experience and we gained a lot in terms of observing the management of a world class company.
