Galgotias Commerce Society in association with the School of Finance and Commerce organized a ‘Provoking Thought Writing Competition’ on 15th September 2014 in the university campus. Entrants in the competition were asked to focus on the theme of Accepting a Rape/ Acid Attack victim as a Life Partner or Euthanasia. “The thoughtful write ups received from over 45 participants from various schools ranging from Engineering to Hospitality, spoke well of the high standard in both social and progressive ideas which emanated from students,” said Dr. Rimple Manchanda who was one of the jury members
Archit from B.Tech School of Computing Sciences and Engineering, GU and Rajeev Verma from B.Tech School of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering, GU secured first and second positions and were awarded with the Certificates and prize money. Both of them in their thoughtful writings focused on the present social environment and the importance of regional and national development to bring about the change in perspectives related to accepting victims as normal individuals.
Important issues impacting the youth were also addressed by competition entrants, including gender equality, conflict resolution and climate change. “These topics have been readily seized on by the talented essay writers. The result has been some outstanding writings, thought provoking, that illustrate what a capable generation-in-waiting we have.” said Prof Silky Jain who guided the students to organize this event. Certificate of Participation was awarded to all entrants.
