Road safety continues to be a major developmental issue, a public health concern and a leading cause of death and injury across the world, killing more than 1.35 million globally. With India ranking first in the number of road accident deaths across the 195 countries and accounts for almost 11 percent of the accident-related deaths in the world road safety remains to be a major concern, thus in order to cater to this concern, National Service Scheme, Galgotias University took the initiative of organizing a webinar on &ldquoRoad Safety&rdquo with Ms. Shraddha Pandey, Addtl. DCP, Law & Order and Traffic, Gautam Buddha Nagar as the guest speaker who raised her concern on how our day to day activities like talking on the phone while driving or crossing roads, moving on the wrong side of the road for shortcuts or not wearing a helmet considering the short distance can lead to loss of life.
Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Vice-Chancellor, Galgotias University also graced the webinar with her presence and shared her views on road safety as she mentioned that she has been associated with road safety awareness for years being FICCI road safety awardee. She expressed how road safety is not only about driving but also includes road rage incidents and inherently it is a cross-sectoral issue, creating a direct impact on public health, societies, and economies. She also congratulated NSS was organizing the webinar on this relevant concern. Dr. N B Singh NSS Program officer has thanked all participants.
