Mass Communication organises Debate on freedom of speech
An online Debate competition on &ldquoIs IT rules 2021 restrict the freedom of speech&rdquo organized by Department of Mass Communication on 6th July, 2021 through a google meet platform. Students of different universities and institution such as Gynarthi Media College, K.R Mangalam University, Manipal University, Teerthankar Mahaveer University, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has participated and presented their thoughts on the topic. The event has judged by Professor Ramarcha Kumar of School of Business Studies, Galgotias University and Dr. Namita Singh Mallik, Associate Dean, School of Law, Galgotias University. Besides this, the event was graced by the chief guest, Vineet Kumar Singh, Deputy News Editor, India TV (Digital). He also shared his views and opinion on the contemporary scenario. This debate competition was designed to provide a platform to the students where they may discuss the crucial changes suggested by the Indian judiciary system
The event was started by the hosts Nikita Kapoor and Sejal Bhamani, students of the Mass Communication department by giving a welcome speech to all guests and participants. After that Nehal, student of Mass Communication Department has also explained about the topic of the debate. Moving ahead, hosts took the command and lead the session by inviting participants one by one for their presentations.
At the end of all the presentations, Professor Ramarcha Kumar and Associate Professor Namita Singh Mallik collectively declared Ishita Shrama, student of JIMS, Vasant Kumj and Shristi Srivastava student of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University bagged first and second prizes respectively. With this, Professor Ramarcha Kumar has also given his insights on the topic and said &ldquoIT Act 2021 restricts our freedom of speech but to some extent it also provides freedom. Because every coin has two sides: positive and negative. In the end of the event, Associate Professor Dr. Tasha Singh Parihar has given the vote of thanks and appreciates participants for their active participation.
