Galgotias University, School of law, & CRIPS (Centre for Intellectual Property Studies) organized a National Seminar on Managing Innovations through Patents virtually on the occasion of Intellectual property day on 24/04/2021 i.e., on Saturday from 11:00 am to 12.:30 p.m.  The event started with the welcome address by Ms. Ashmika Agarwal. She introduced our guest speaker Mr. Arindam Purkayastha, Patent attorney, Khurana& Khurana Advocates and IP Attorney for this seminar.
Opening remarks & a brief idea regarding the area of presentation was given by Dr. Namita Singh Malik, Dean (Officiating), Associate Professor, School of Law, Galgotias University. She also welcomed our guest speaker Mr. Arindam Purkayastha for this seminar. She also showed expressed gratitude towards faculties, students who are participated in the event. She categorized IPR as powerful business tool. She also emphasized that there is lot to learn from this seminar.
Mr. Arindam Purkayastha also welcomed all faculties and students. Speaker highlighted more on Management of IPR specifically Patent rather on its legal aspect and also emphasized that IPR has to be managed and strategized like any other tangible property and asset.
Speaker also talked about requirements of patent and talked about Patentability of 3D Printers, patentability of Green tech (Solar Heat) highlighting Research & Development and discussed about innovation in water transport. Mr. Arindam marked that there is some standard of motivation behind filing patent. Financial reward in the form of money is one of the greatest motivations. Later on, esteemed speaker discussed what can be Patented and What cannot be Patented? And emphasized that there is need to take precaution while filing patent. He relied on non-disclosure of invention before filing it. Even also highlighted some other aspects of Intellectual property also like, Designs, Semi-conductor circuit. Later on, he discussed about Patent Strategy and laid down certain criteria to keep in mind. He said that the business has to integrate its business strategy into patent strategy. At last, there was Question & Answer session. Questions were invited from Students and Faculties. Students asked some very good questions. Our guest speaker Mr. Arindam Purkayastha answered every question efficiently.
More than 170 students across the Nation participated in the event.
