GUCON 2020
The 3rd IEEE International Conference on Computing, Power & Communication Technologies (GUCON 2020) was co-organized by Galgotias University and IEEE Industrial Applications Society USA. The GUCON 2020 is a conference to bring researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to discuss novel ideas in the field of computing, power, and communication. This year the conference was joined by researchers, students, and industry professionals from five countries. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was organized online.
In the inaugural session of GUCON 2020, opening remarks were given by Shri Dhruv Galgotia, CEO Galgotias University, Welcome address by Prof. Preeti Bajaj, VC of Galgotias University and Conference highlights by Prof. Saad Mekhilef of University of Malaya and Technical Chair of GUCON 2020. In the same session, the participants had the opportunity to listen to Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. Of India, Manfred &ldquoFred&rdquo J. Schindler (FIEEE), Independent Consultant, and Chief Technology Officer Anlotek Ltd. And IEEE Director-Elect for Division IV, Prof. Frede Blaabjerg (FIEEE), Professor, The Faculty of Engineering and Science Aalborg University, Denmark, Dr. Tamás Ruzsányi, Technical director, Ganz-Skoda Electric Ltd., Budapest, Hungary, Dr. Dejan Milojicic (FIEEE) Distinguished Technologist Hewlett Packard Labs USA, Prof. Bhim Singh (FIEEE), Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, India, Prof. Paul M Cunningham, Executive Director, IST- Africa Institute and Session ended with Vote of Thanks by Conference Secretary.
The 2020 edition started with Plenary Talk on &ldquoIEEE Senior Membership &ndash Benefits and Application Procedures&rdquo Amarnath Raja, CEO, and Co-founder, InApp, & IEEE MGA Committee Chair A&A. Then 1st & 2nd technical session was organized (FD1 to FD10) in which fifty-one papers were presented in which around seventy authors participated. The technical sessions were chaired by eminent professors like Dr. Shriram KV, Dr. Indrani Das, Dr. Sanjay Das, Dr. Ranbir Bath Singh, Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Dr. K K Mishra, Dr. Malaya Kumar Nath, Prof. Ritu Sibal, Dr. Manish Tiwari, and Dr. Shweta Taneja. There was also a keynote speech on &ldquoTaming Heterogeneity: Evolution of the Memristor-based Deep Learning Accelerator and its Software Stack&rdquo by Dr. Dejan Milojicic (FIEEE) Distinguished Technologist, Hewlett. The first day of GUCON 2020 concluded with this. Later a meeting of the conference team was organized to review the plan for the second day.
The second day started with technical session 3rd and 4th in which sixty papers were presented. These sessions were chaired by eminent professors of India as well as foreign universities like Dr. Malaya Kumar Nath , Dr. Sartajvir Singh, Dr. Manish Sharma, Dr. Shivendu Prashar, Dr. Ankush Ghosh, Dr. Y K Chauhan, Dr. Enamul Haque, Dr. Mohd Tariq, Dr. Shabana Urooj, Dr. Alok Kanti Deb, and Dr. Pinaki Chakraborty. During the day, there were four keynote speeches which were attended by all participants. These keynote speeches were,
"Frontiers in Lighting Systems Technology: Toward the human-centric intelligent lighting era." By Prof. Georges ZISSIS, Vice-President/Vice-Rector, Université Toulouse III, France & President, IEEE Industry Applications Society USA, "Power electronics - the key technology for grid integration" by Prof. Frede Blaabjerg (FIEEE), Professor, The Faculty of Engineering and Science at Aalborg University, Denmark
"Innovative Regeneration without Quenching and it's Applications" by Manfred "Fred" J. Schindler, Independent (FIEEE), Consultant, and Chief Technology Officer Anlotek Ltd. And IEEE Director-Elect for Division IV.
"Neural Prostheses for Amputees and Patients with Spinal Cord Injuries" by Prof. V John Mathews, (FIEEE) Professor, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Oregon State University USA. The second day concluded with this. Later a meeting of the conference team was organized to review the plan for the third day. The third day started with technical session 5th and 6th in which fifty papers were presented. These sessions were chaired by eminent professors of India as well as foreign universities like Dr. Nitin Singh, Dr. Niraj Choudhary, Dr Rakibuzzaman Shah, Dr. Shama Islam, Dr. Vinod Yadav, Dr. Udaybir Singh, Dr. Dhiraj Kumar Singh, and Dr. Rabiul Islam. During the day, there were two keynote speeches which were attended by all participants. These keynote speeches were &ldquoDynamic Estimation and Control of Power System&rdquo by Prof. Bikash Pal, Professor of Power Systems, Imperial College London, UK and "The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Sustainable Development &ndash The Role of Technology and Innovation&rdquo by Prof. Paul M Cunningham, Executive Director, IST-Africa Institute. The final day of GUCON 2020 concluded with the Closing Session which was addressed by Prof. Preeti Bajaj, VC Galgotias University. In the end, GUCON 2020 concluded with the announcement of GUCON 2021 already approved IEEE IAS and is a 100% financial sponsored conference by Prof. Wei-Jen Lee (FIEEE) Professor and Director, Energy Systems Research Center, University Of Texas, Arlington and 2021 IEEE Industry Applications Society President.
