In finance, an investment strategy is a set of rules, behaviors or procedures, designed to guide an investor's ion of an investment portfolio. Individuals have different profit objectives, and their individual skills make different tactics and strategies appropriate.
Taking this as an opportunity in these transmuting times, the School of Finance and Commerce invited Mr. Archit Lohia (CA, CFA, CAIA, LLB), Founder & CEO of Career Topper, to present a webinar on Alternative Investment Strategies for the benefit of the students and university fraternity.
Mr. Archit Lohia, has worked with Ernst & Young and BSE Ltd, in areas such as, Regulation, Compliance, IPO Process, Information Systems, Investment Analysis, Audit and Finance. His start up works for Indian regulators, banks, mutual funds, foreign universities, startup accelerators and a number of training institutes and B-Schools.
Mr. Lohia is passionate about the Alternative Investments Market and aims at enabling finance professionals to hone the niche skills within this market. He likes to write books and articles on the Alternative Investment industry and is a regular speaker at national and international forums.
The webinar commenced with the welcoming of guests and dignitaries, and presenting the profile of the speaker to the audience. Mr. Archit Lohia started the talk with the meaning and importance of Alternative Investment. He then further went on to explain the different types of the investment strategies like, Private Equity, Hedge funds, commodities and the systems under it.
Furthermore, Mr, Lohia also discussed the Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) and its significance and functioning. He further explained the difference between the Alternative Investments and Traditional Investments and how we can identify them. He also discussed some few more alternative investments like Art & Paintings, wine, films, etc. and explained the effects of COVID 19 on the previously discussed alternative investments. He ended the session by discussing about the Post-Covid 19 Era and which companies should be ed and invested in.
The Vice Chancellor, Dean SFC, Advisor to SFC, Deans of other schools, large number of faculty members of SFC and various other schools, students from all 5 programs of the school, and many external faculty members participated in the webinar. The session was throughout interactive and many questions were put by students as well as faculty members.
At the end a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Arvind Sinha on behalf of SFC to the speaker, dignitaries, students and faculty members for cooperation extended in making it a successful event. The event would not have been successful without the sincere effort put in by the Co-curricular team volunteers in organizing the event.
