A Webinar on &ldquoCloud Native Journey&rdquo was organized by the School of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering on 27th June from 11.00am &ndash 12.30 pm. The Event started with opening remarks and a brief outline of the Speaker&rsquos profile among the Participants by Prof. Prabhat Kumar Srivastava. It was followed by the Message by Dr. B. Mohapatra, Dean (SEECE) in which he briefly outlined the scope of the topic. He also extended a word of Welcome to the Participants. The thanking note was delivered by Dr. O. Jeba Shiny, Program Chair (ECE) that included the details on the response received from different participants Netflix case study is about their cloud journey, challenges that Netflix faced and what they did to address them.
The Speaker explicated the importance of Cloud Native Journey with numerous examples on real time applications and shared a vast knowledge on understanding the challenges in pre cloud era, what problem cloud service provider solved in cloud era by offering infrastructure as service. Finally, how industry took the journey to cloud native era by focusing more on exploiting cloud compute offering and using micro services, containers and many more technologies. Containers bundle dependencies and allow you to just focus on application and manage the quick deployment model with easily scaling up/scaling down application instances. In simple terms, server less means we are not managing servers. Server less is a cloud computing execution model where the cloud provider dynamically manages the allocation and provisioning of servers. This helps us to focus on code and not on managing infra part of it. These are primarily offered by public service providers.
A number of queries were posted by the audience at the end of the lecture which made the session further more interactive and informative to the participants. The session ended with excellent feedback by the participants and a word of thanks by the Coordinators.
