A webinar on opportunities for film making for digital platforms was conducted by Galogotias University on 19-05-2020 at 1:00 PM. The webinar on Zoom Aap consisted of various professional film makers as guests. The first guest was Prateek Srivastava, a cinematographer who had featured film- &ldquoI am zero&rdquo, he has also worked for ALT Balaji, behind the scenes of Ragini MMS and 30 documentaries for various other platforms. Pawan Kumar, assistant director, What The Folks ( Dice Media &ndash season 2), Telegusong &lsquoMaate&rsquo, Marati Film (Rgional) , directed three short films-Sthanak,Haiwan,Avsaad-and written three feature film story line/ was the second gusts for the webinar. Our third guest was Gautam Azad, assistant director in Savdhaan India, Gully Kuchi, Unsettling Pace and also projected Dada Saheb Film Festival and Koshi Film Festival. Manjeet Kumar, assistant director- Amaanat, Teri Bhabhi, Kaashi, P se Pyaar was the final guest.
The first two guests talked about their great struggle from the beginning to the end. They mentioned that even without the basic facilities of smart phones and laptops, how they managed to come to Mumbai and became successful. They taught the students of journalism and mass communication that determination and hard work are the key role to what you want to become. Your focus decides everything. They also advised the students to take all these small assignments given by the faculty members as projects and practical work very seriously. They should be creative and involved right from the start and do all the small-big projects of college nicely. One of the major questions asked by one of the students from MJAMC was that- how to reach the right place at Bombay. Is it only the hard work? To that the guest gave a very practical answer that you will definitely need a strong and good contact to reach to the film industry in Mumbai along with your hard work and talent. He asked the students to develop their skills and contacts as well, as it is very important.
The next guest also guided the students through his own personal experience and vast struggle. He gave a reality check to the students about the life before the success in film industry. When asked that if his family supports what he is doing, he replied not agreeing. He told the students that sometimes your family will not support all the things that you do, but if you have the confidence and determination towards your goal, and you enjoy the struggle of it, then you should just move forward as everything demands sacrifice in some or the other way. The final guests discussed about various technical terms like OOC,OCP. He informed the students about how films, web series etc are made in your favourite trending aaps- Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar, etc. How a solid makes through these aaps and a film is made.
This Webinar aimed to motivate the young minds of journalism and mass communication towards their career and guided them about how to achieve it through their experiences, struggle, knowledge, and practical realities. It was a fruitful interaction for the students of Galgotias University during the time of Covid-19.
