Coronavirus pandemic has hit economic activities throughout the globe. Most of the world nations put together have lost trillions of dollars in GDP. And the world is at the cross-roads to decide whether to save the economic disaster or control the pandemic, at many instances it has become the question of life or living. The confusion is deep and wide from a daily wage earner to top industrialists and national leaders all are juggling with the said question.
Amid this time of uncertainty, the School of Finance and Commerce, Galgotias University hosted a webinar for the students and university fraternity on "Investing in Crisis / Covid times".
The speaker, Mr. Varun Goenka is a seasoned professional with more than a decade of experience in the Indian equity markets. He is an Equity Research Analyst with Nippon Life India Asset Management Ltd., a leading asset management company in India with $34bn AUM as on Marchཐ.
His approach to the particular webinar is driven by Andy Benoit&rsquos saying that the true genius is not in deconstructing intricate complexities, but in discovering or exploiting unrecognized simplicities.
Given the vastness of the topic, Mr. Goenka started with an aerial view of the subject and then took us through various building blocks. The insights and takeaways from the webinar included economic history and evolution with Indian macros and how COVID-19 has given us the opportunity to transform and be more practical while adapting to crisis like pandemics. He explained about the global long-term market trends, global market cycles, investing theories and principles and India&rsquos wealth creation with now where to begin.
The Vice Chancellor, Dean SFC, Deans of other schools, large number of faculty members of SFC and various other schools, students from all 5 programs of the school, and many external faculty members participated in the webinar. The session was throughout interactive and many questions were put by students as well as faculty members.
At the end a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Nupur Mishra on behalf SFC to the speaker, dignitaries, students and faculty members for cooperation extended in making it a successful event. The event would not have been successful without the sincere effort put in by the Co-curricular team volunteers in organizing the event.
