School of Agriculture and School of Basic and Applied Science, Galgotias University had jointly organized a webinar online weekly lecture series on &ldquoCOVID -19 and its impacts on natural resources and biodiversity&rdquo from 16-05-2020 to 22-05-2020. The webinar highlighted the Changing environment and world of wildlife under lockdown, Covid-19 Impact on Water Resources, Zoonoses, Covid-19 & Societal Solutions, Implications of Covid-19 Pandemic on Agriculture, Biodiversity: Concepts, Components, Significance, Challenges and Legal Framework and interaction of ecology and economy.
Prof.Ganesh Bhatt, Dean School of Agriculture and Prof. Arvind Jain, School of Basic and Applied Science welcomed the guest speaker and explained the objectives of the webinar. This interactive session was attended by a large number of students and faculties.
During the first-day lecture series of webinar on 16th May 2020, Prof. Sas Biswas Biswas from the Department of Forestry, Dolphin Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Dehradun was the resource person. He delivered the webinar on &ldquoChanging environment and world of wildlife under lockdown.&rdquo The second day of the webinar on 17th May 2020, Dr. Gopal Krishnan from the national Institute of hydrology, Roorkee was the resource person. He has also served as Researcher- IGB groundwater Project. He delivered the webinar on &ldquoCovid-19 Impact on Water Resources&rdquo. He discussed the usage of water in different sectors, the present status of water in prominent rivers in India, and the judicious use of water. On the date 18th May 2020, Dr.Binod Dahal, Development and Cluster Integrator, Pradan South Rajasthan, Udaipur was the resource person. He discussed the role of NGOs and Pradhans in combating Covid-19 and helping the poor people at various levels. On the date of 20th May 2020, the noted scientist and learned speaker Dr.S.P.S. Kushwah, Former Group Director and Dean Academics of Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Deptt.of Space- Govt.of India, Dehradun conducted an insightful session. He discussed the effects of a pandemic on the agriculture sector and agro-economy. He also explored the measures to be taken for the revival of agricultural activities in India. He also spoke about the preparedness of agriculture produce to face the trying times. Further on the date of 21st May 2020, distinguished speaker Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sharma- Principal Scientist, The Indian Council of Agricultural Research - The Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi was invited as a resource person. He explored the topic of Biodiversity: Concepts, Components, Significance, Challenges, and Legal Framework. He spoke about the present situation of Biodiversity across the nation and discussed the rights of animals as well.
The webinar series for the last was completed successfully with the high note by the presence of eminent environmentalist, Padmabhushan and Padhmsri awardee Dr.Anil Prakash Joshi. He elaborated on the intricacies of Ecology and Economy with multiple examples. He kept the session interactive and engaged the audience throughout. During the session the presence of Hon&rsquoble Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Deans of the different schools, faculties and students made this an insightful webinar.
