Workshop on Practical and Procedural Aspects of Law

Amidst social distancing and online congregation and learning School of Law, Galgotias University organized a One-day Online Workshop for the faculty and the students of the School of Law, Galgotias University. Even during these difficult times of COVID 19 the process of unlearning, learning and re-learning must go on. The sessions revolved around four primary areas of law those are, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, and Cyber Law. The online workshop was based on the practical and procedural aspects of law, equally beneficial for the students during their internships and for the faculty members in understanding and teaching the subjects more effectively.
The online workshop started with the welcome remarks and brief overview of the workshop by Prof. (Dr.) Azim B. Pathan, Associate Dean, SOL, Galgotias University. The event was then declared open by Hon&rsquoble Vice-Chancellor of Galgotias University, Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Bajaj. Her words of wisdom filled the participants with enthusiasm and zeal to learn.
The first session by Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor & Dean, School of Law, G.D. Goenka University was on the Emerging Issues in IPR and Artificial Intelligence. He emphasized on the procedural aspects in an adjudication concerning IPR and AI. He discussed the existing legal regime of data protection and privacy in India, along with the remedies available to an individual in case of data infringement.
The second session by Prof. (Dr.) B.T. Kaul, Ex-Chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy on the Practical Aspects of Criminal Law: From Investigation to Trial, whereby he briefly explained the theoretical aspects along with the nuances in this area emphasizing on leading judgments.
The third session by Advocate Riju Raj Jamwal, Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India was on the theme of Drafting, Filing and Legal Research in Public Law Litigations: Practice and Procedure. He emphasized on procedural aspects of legal research, drafting of writ petitions, drafting of SLP and shared specimens with the participants which were equally useful for both faculty members and students.
The last session by Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh, Dean and Professor, School of Law UPES Dehradun was on the theme of Emerging Area of Corporate Governance and Skills in Corporate Litigations: Practice and Procedure. He discussed the emerging field of corporate governance and along with various interconnected areas of corporate law such as insolvency and bankruptcy.
Each session concluded with a 15 minutes interactive Q&A Round moderated by Dr. Sandhya Kumari, Associate Professor & Ms. Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor of School of Law, Galgotias University.
The Vote of Thanks to all the Respected Authorities at Galgotias University, Resource Persons, and to all the students and faculty participants given by Dr. Gazal Gupta, Associate Dean, SOL, Galgotias University marked the valedictory of this online workshop. The workshop was well managed and executed by the Faculty Co-ordinators of FDP Committee Dr. Sandhya Kumari, Dr. Mandeep Kumar & Ms. Puja Kumari.
