The seminar had four speakers in the panel. The panel was introduced by Dr. Issam Khoury,
Dean, SLE. The main speaker Ambassador Hector Cueva Jacome spoke about 'soft diplomacy.' He discussed various ways of soft diplomacy exphasising on the role of Gandhiji in the same. Further, he mentioned six important points in developing soft diplomacy with India including food, religion and Bollywood. The next speaker was Huma Siddiqui who is a senior correspondent in The Financial Express. She talked about cultural and economic ties between the two countries. She emphasized that India should look at Ecuador as a trustworthy trading partner and improve bilateral relations. This was followed by Prof Ash Narain Roy who spoke about the domestic issues of Ecuador including their dynamic constitution. The next speaker was Ana Maldonado, Second Secretary in the Ecuadorean embassy in India. She briefly talked about the possible tourist places and the huge scope of people-to-people ties between the two countries. The panel discussion was concluded by a brief QnA session.
