School of Agriculture, Galgotias University has arranged an industrial visit to Saveer Biotech Ltd., Greater Noida on 6th February 2020 along with a group of students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture 4th and B.Sc. (Microbiology) 4th Semester were visited to Saveer Biotech Ltd., Greater Noida.The purposes of this visit was part of academic activities and learning process of greenhouse technology in agriculture sector. The students were reached Saveer Biotech Ltd., Greater Noida at 1.30 pm and interacted with Dr.Virendra Patel, Research & Development Coordinator. Dr. Patel and his team has briefly explained about the peri urban agriculture and its potential role in increasing food security, employment and income generation, poverty alleviation, community resource development, waste management and environmental sustainability. Dr. Patel also explained and shown Hyonics vegetable growing chambers, poly house, green house and shade net nursery. They also showed computerised fertigation setup and its role in the poly house.
One of the vegetable experts Dr. Dharam Singh has shown drip irrigation system and its productivity effects and sustainability in vegetable production. Dr. Singh also explained about the the role of greenhouse technology for small land area and large quantity of crops which are produced year around as compared to the open filed crop production, thus fulfilling the requirement of the urban market.
In continuation with the visit one of the experts Dr. Aayushi has shown the designs orchidarium with a specialized system for controlled humidity and air movement. The orchidarium is provided with optimum lighting conditions for orchid plants while protecting them from direct and harsh sunlight. We use a rust-free metallic frame for the structure of the orchidarium and screens are used as per the requirement. The growing space encompasses containers, pathways to move around and a space having designed benches for visitors. Irrigation and fertigation is provided by drip system for water and fertilizer supply to the orchids.
In the end of the day a few students and faculty has visited Saveer Biotech Laboratory and see the media preparation for in Vitro and in vivo process.
