In an increasingly complex and challenging profession, the need for teachers, administrators and school systems to become involved in professional development activities is ever present. Action research is a process of systematic inquiry that seeks to improve social issues affecting the lives of everyday people .The action research is a form of collective reflective enquiry undertaken by participants in social situations in order to improve the rationality and justice of their own social or educational practices, as well as their understanding of these practices and the situations in which these practices are carried out. The School of Education organized a National Workshop on Action Research to highlight the main goal of action research, which is to determine ways to enhance the lives of children.
The Resource Person invited was Prof. Rajendra Pal, Media Production Division, CIET, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi. The objectives of the said workshop were to establish a conceptual framework for action research which will enable the teachers/educators to learn the various steps in conducting action research pertaining to classroom problems so as to predict analyze and provide solutions to their actual. This will persuade teachers/educators to conduct action research in their own schools in order to improve the quality of overall teaching and learning scenario.
The event commenced with Saraswati Vandana by B.Ed. students and lighting of the lamp by all esteem guests. After brief introduction of Galgotias University and School of Education the resource person was honored and welcomed with planters and memento. The occasion was also graced by the presence of Vice Chancellors of Galgotias University, Prof. Pardeep Kumar. The resource person was introduced and the concept note followed by Dr. Shri Kant Dwivedi. The welcome speech of Dean, SOE Prof. Satyendra Gupta followed by the speech of esteemed Vice Chancellor.
There were two sessions conducted. The first session was on conceptual framework of Action Research and the second session was on the process of writing research title, proposal and report in action. The resource person began with introduction to research, its type, sampling, its need and caught momentum to the motion of the day. An exercise sheet was done by each participant which was later discussed to further clarify on the concepts discussed.
In the second session a video lecture of Prof. Sansanwal was screened on framing of title, process of writing action research proposal and its reporting with discussion. Both the sessions were interactive.
The workshop was attended by 18 various institutions participants from Bareilly, Bijnor, Rewari and across Delhi and NCR.
The session was concluded by participants&rsquo feedback and with a vote of thanks by Ms. Navita Malik.
