Faculty Development Programme on Legal Research: Innovation & Development

Role reversal is an important aspect of unlearning, learning and re-learning, which is a continuous part of growing as a teacher. Keeping this in mind, School of Law, Galgotias University organized the 4th National Faculty Development Programme in its continuous effort for upgrading its faculty members. The programme was organized on the topic of "Legal Research: Innovation and Development" under the guidance of Program Chair, Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad, PVC & Dean, School of Law and the Faculty Co-ordinators, Dr. Sandhya Kumari, Associate Professor Dr. Mandeep Kumar, Assistant Professor, and Ms. Puja Kumari, Assistant Professor from School of Law, Galgotias University during 4th - 10th December 2019. It was an activity-based programme where there were methodological sessions in the first half, which was put into practice in the second half of the day. It was just not a one-way process of learning rather a multi-pronged process of developing ourselves as faculty members.
Day 1 of the 4th National Faculty Development Program was flagged off by our Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Preeti Bajaj. Welcome Address was given by our Respected PVC & Dean, School of Law, Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad. The lecture on Day 1 was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Afzal Wani, Professor, GGSIPU on the topic "Researching the Subject: Empirical v. Doctrinal".
Day 2 of the Program was initiated by the lecture on "Case Study Method of Legal Research" by Prof. (Dr.) Salim Shamsher, Dean, School of Finance and Commerce, Galgotias University. The second half of the session on Day 2 of FDP was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad, PVC & Dean, School of Law, Galgotias University. He delivered a lecture on the topic "Developing a Hypothesis".
On Day 3, Lecture was delivered on the topic "Literature Review: Formulating the Basis for the Study" by Dr. Rachna Chaudhary, Associate Professor, School of Human Studies, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Delhi.
Day 4 and 5 were activity and assignment based, when the participants were developing the Work-in-Progress.
Day 6 of FDP 2019 was initiated by the lecture on "Developing Legal Research Methodology" by Prof. (Dr.) Ved Kumari, Professor, Law Centre I, Faculty of Law, Delhi University. A session was undertaken by Prof. (Dr.) Azim B. Pathan, Professor, School of Law, Galgotias University on the topic, "Legal Citation".
Day 7 of FDP 2019 witnessed the presence of Prof. (Dr.) B.T. Kaul, Former Chairperson, Delhi Judicial Academy, and a lecture was delivered on the topic "Case Method of Legal Research". The participants were given Certificates on Day 7 of FDP 2019 during the Valedictory Ceremony by the venerable Prof. (Dr.) B.T. Kaul and Prof. (Dr.) Tabrez Ahmad.
Participants were working on assignments since Day 1. They identified a research area and ed a research topic on Day 1, prepared and presented an Abstract on the chosen topic on Day 2 and 3. During Day 4 and 5 they worked on their Work-in-Progress. Participants even discussed their Work-in-Progress of the ed research topic on Day 6 and 7 in the closed group. They will upload the same on SSRN as a draft paper. They will upgrade the draft paper and finally submit to a Scopus Index Journal for publication.
