School of Biosciences & Biomedical Engineering, Galgotias University, Greater Noida has organized an invited talk on July 25, 2019 at 11:30 AM. More than 150 students of different discipline including clinical research, Pharmacy, physiotherapy, Nursing, CVT and Medical lab technology attended this event. The honorable Vice chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Renu Luthra grace the occasion by her presence in the event. Mrs. Shilpi Chandra Director HR and Prof. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Dean, School of Medical & Allied Sciences, Galgotias University were also grace this occasion by their presence. The program was hosted by Hima Dutta Baruah and Kaushalendra Kumar, Department of Clinical Research.
The event is started with welcoming of invited speaker Dr. Neetu Tyagi, University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA with offering of flower bouquet by Hema Kumari, Assistant Professor, School of Biosciences and Biomedical Engineering. Prof. Ranjana S. Patnaik, Dean, School of Biosciences & Biomedical Engineering introduced the speaker and invited her to deliver the talk. The speaker, Dr. Neetu Tyagi presented her lecture in the field of &ldquoIschemic Stroke and Neuroprotection&rdquo. The title of her presentation was &ldquoTetrahydrocurcumin ameliorates MMP-9 mediated mitochondrial remodeling in hyperhomocysteinemia mice after stroke. During the lecture she explained the cerebral stroke, its types i.e. ischemic and hemorrhagic, its pathophysiology and possible treatment strategies. She explained the procedure of middle cerebral artery occlusion for the induction of ischemic stroke in rodent model. She also described that "how the hyperhomocysteinemia is correlated with neurological dysfunction in ischemic stroke. She demonstrated her findings about neuroprotective potential of Tetrahydrocurcumin by inhibiting MMP-9 and various molecular mediators of the neurological dysfunction.
After 90 minutes of talk there was question answer session. During this session several students asked their queries and got satisfied after getting appropriate answers by the speaker. Mr. Gaurav Kumar, Assistant Professor, School of Biosciences and Biomedical Engineeringhas given a vote of thanks to the invited speaker and entire fraternity of Galgotias University. The event was ended with a big round of applause.
