Galgotias University focuses for the students' safety and security which are emerging due to increasing use of internet. School of Education (SOE) and Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of Galgotias University on 27th March, 2019 organized a Workshop on "Digital Literacy & Online Safety". The workshop was conducted by an NGO 'Cyber Peace Foundation'. In the workshop girl students and woman faculty members of all the schools participated in three different sessions.
The main objective of the workshop was to provide thorough knowledge about how we can keep ourselves safe in virtual world with the help of various laws and security measures and to spread awareness about the protection measures.The workshop was divided in three sessions which covered very major issues that we face in cyber world in our day to day life which includes stalking, harassing, bullying, morphing, financial frauds etc. It also included the ways through which we can protect ourselves from these types of threats. The resource persons also emphasized on not believing everything we see on the internet and crossing checking every news before sharing it with others.
The first session was taken up by Mr. Nitish Chandan who is a Cyber Security and Cyber Law specialist. The second session was taken up by Ms. Jenice Verghese, trainer Cyber peace Foundation and Mr. Gautam Mishra who is a Researcher. The third session was taken up by Ms. Jenice Verghese. In all three sessions more than 500 students and faculty members attended the workshop.
The workshop was a training-cum-practical and interactive session involving active participation of all the participants. The resource person superlatively explained the whole concept with suitable examples. The workshop involved the vast information and knowledge of issues in our modern cyber world and how we can cope up with them. It proved to be a great and inspiring learning experience for all the participants.
