Visiting educational institutions of the national repute is the essential part of the B.Ed. curriculum. Visit to such organizations widen the vision of the students and inspire them for their future planning. For achieving this objective B.Ed. students of second semester and faculty members of Galgotias University, School of Education, Greater Noida visited National council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi on February 5, 2019. NCERT is the apex government body working for the improvement of the school education in the country.
In the first part of the visit students visited Department of Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET-NCERT). This department is working for enhancing use of ICT in education. This department arranged four sessions for the B.Ed. students. First session was taken by Prof. Amarender Prasad Behera, Joint Director. In his address he requested the students to become creator and consumer of Digital knowledge and focused to reduce the transmission gap and cascading information from top to bottom.
Second session was taken by Dr. Abhay Kumar, Assistant Professor, CIET. He stressed on quality, quantity and equity as objective of knowledge that can be incorporated through Digital Era. Third session was preceded by Mr. Parmod Sharma who focused on incorporation of Art in Education and gave in hands practice to use 'Puppets' in classroom teaching. In the fourth session a visit was arranged to the studios of the CIET to develop an understanding preparation required for live videos, audios and their recordings.
In second part of the visit a session was taken by Prof. Jyotsana Tiwari, Head and Dr. Sharbari Banarjee of Department of Education in Arts and Aesthetics (DEAA). Both faculties talked upon the topic, &lsquoStatus of Art Education: Practice, Issues and Challenges&rsquo. They motivated budding teachers to create own resource centers and integrate arts to interpret and analyze their subjects. This exposure visit helped students to motivate themselves as a nation builder role they are going to play.
