Expert Lecture on Microteaching at School of Education Galgotias University
The School of Education, Galgotias University organised an Expert Lecture on Microteaching on 5th November, 2014. Eminent educationist Prof. L.C. Singh delivered the keynote address.
The Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Renu Luthra welcomed the esteemed guest and in her welcome address stated that a teacher is the greatest artist, as his/her canvas is the human heart and mind."
Dr. Satyendra Gupta, Dean, School of Education welcomed the speaker and gave a progress report of the School of Education and shared his vision for the school.
In his lecture Dr. L.C. Singh highlighted the concept of Microteaching and skills associated with it. He pointed out the advantages in conducting Microteaching before going in for Practice Teaching in the School and how it reduces the complexity of the teaching, develops the teaching skills and behaviour in the teacher trainee. He said that Microteaching is a technique of training in teaching skills. He discussed in detail the five core Microteaching skills and their components and he also guided the students how they could develop these skills in their behaviour.

Brief Profile of Prof. L.C. Singh- Prof. Singh worked for 30 years in the Department of Teacher Education, NCERT and retired as a Professor of Education from there. He spent his life in Teacher Education. He is one of the few distinguished educationists who have contributed to the development and diffusion of Microteaching and Models of Teaching in the Indian setting. His expertise and experience in teacher education were recognized by way of his international interaction in UNESCO, U.S.A., U.K., Holland, Australia and Thailand. He has published a number of books, research papers and monographs. He is known for his work in India and abroad.
