The Induction Programme of SMAS (2018-2019)

On 21 August, 2018 the whole department of Physiotherapy welcomed freshers with great enthusiasm. Firstly, registration process was completed for first year students. After that the event was preceded with &ldquoSaraswati Vandana&rdquo invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati along with kindling the auspicious &ldquolamp lightening&rdquo by honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Luthra accompanied by Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K.Sharma and H.O.D, Physiotherapy Deptt., SMAS, Dr. Yamini Sharma. A brief introduction session was held with first year students, they were asked about their hobbies and interests in all fields including sports, cultural activities and studies. Afterwards a seminar on &ldquoCommunication skills&rdquo was conducted by Mr. Nitin, Faculty, SLLL. Our faculty members Dr. Biplab Maji and Dr. Vishal Sharma briefed the students about key persons of the University and also about discipline, mandatory attendance and university examination. They were also briefed about the contents of Induction program for first year students going to be organized for next coming days. After introductory sessions, the volunteers took the students and their guardians for department visit in divided groups. During the visit they were briefed about classrooms, practical labs, library, staff rooms and Dean&rsquos office. At last students were assembled again and instructed to bring yoga mat/sheets for yoga session to be conducted in University premises on 23, Aug, 2018.
On 23 August, 2018 the second day of induction program began with Yoga session in the morning which was held from 8:30 &ndash 10:00 AM. All the first year students were taken to the ground to practice yogasanas. After the Yoga session, a dance competition was held in B-001 10:15 AM onwards where most of the students took part with great enthusiasm and enjoyed a lot. Other students were cheering up their classmates. Some performances were also delivered by the students of BPT 2nd, 3rd and 4th year to encourage the first year students. Next event for the day was singing competition, started at 12:30 PM onwards. Many students from 1st year participated in the competition, and as a result hidden talents are now out in open. Some performances set the bar high and led to few performances by the students of 2nd and 3rd year. The music was in the air. After the summation of the event, students were briefed about the next day on induction program so that everyone must be prepared for Rangoli, Poster, slogan and quiz to be conducted.
The day started with manual registrations by 9:20 a.m. There were three competitions for students. Competitions started from 10:00a.m -11:15a.m.First was &lsquoPoster making competition'- The theme for poster making was 'poster with a message'. In poster making competition, students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year participated. Second was &lsquoSlogan competition' - The theme for slogan competition was 'generation gap'. Both the events were going on together in room No. B-121. Third was 'Quiz competition'- . It started from 12:00p.m. All students participated voluntarily and showed great interest. The day went very well. Students enjoyed a lot. It was a general knowledge quiz having questions from sports, movies, politics, history, and social media.
