As part of the University Induction program, the School of Liberal Arts, Galgotias University organized early morning Yoga event with the enthusiastic participation of students with the sessions spreading from 23 August to 25 August.
The program was conducted by Yoga Instructor Ms Ritu Arora. She started off her session by emphasising on the relevance of yoga in temporal as well as spiritual life. She quoted Patanjali&rsquos definition of Yoga:
"yogas chitta vritti nirodha"
Yoga is the removing of the fluctuations of the mind. Yoga is the stilling of the mind until it rests in a state of total and utter tranquillity. The participants were taught various aasanas and pranayam. The instructor explained the benefits of these for one&rsquos physical and mental health and well-being. She performed yoga exercises including Shithilikaran Abhyas, Yogasan, Kapalbhati, Pranayaam and Dhyaan. Students got the chance to know how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. They preformed different yoga asanas like Dhanurasana, Padmasana, Bujangasana, Vajrasana etc. and ended with Pranayama and Shavasana. The participants practiced all the asanas with full determination and zeal and remained chirpy and jubilant throughout the sessions.
