Nasa Human Exploration Rover Challenge

The NASA Great Moon buggy Race is an annual event, held at the US Space and Rocket Center and organized by the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala, in which high school and college students are challenged to design, build and race lightweight, human-powered moon buggies that tackle many of the same engineering challenges dealt with by Apollo-era lunar rover developers at Marshall in the late 1960s.

This photograph of the University of Alabama at Huntsville Moonbuggy team was taken during the first running of the event at Redstone Arsenal in 1994 over the actual course where the original lunar roving vehicles were tested.
