Dr. Vijay Kumar
Dr. Vijay Kumar joined the Department of English in Fall 2013. He teaches Linguistics, Semantics, Phonetics and classes related to English language and communication. He also introduced the courses of linguistics in Bachelors and Masters program of English in the university.
In addition to his research and writing described below, Dr. Kumar does substantial work on folk songs and cultural studies. He has been appointed Program Chair of the department in 2015 to ensure the quality of teaching and assessment to the best. He is the program coordinator of the NSS (National Service Scheme) Galgotias University, an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
Dr. Kumar earned his Masters and PGDTE (Post Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of English) from CIEFL, (Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages which is now English and Foreign Languages University) and his Ph.D from BRABU (Bhim Rao Ambedkar University). He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses focusing primarily on language and linguistics but often extending into the English as a Second language. Her courses are frequently interdisciplinary, seeking to examine linguistics perspective in relation to psychological, socio-historical concepts, and cultural developments.
His representative publications consist a book on Professional Communication, 10 research articles in the area of language and culture. In practical language teaching, his overall teaching goal is his students’ proficiency in using the target language, enabling them to communicate their ideas effectively and express their own meaning. In his courses on linguistic theory, on the other hand, he strives to spark his students' enthusiasm for discovering the rules and regularities of language use and social interaction.
