About the School
Biochemistry, a central basic discipline to all branches of Biology/ Life Sciences. The Division of Biochemistry, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Galgotias University was established in the year 2015. At present 9 teaching faculty members are working in the Department - 1 Associate Professor and 8 Assistant Professors. All of them have specialized in various fields of Biochemistry and its allied areas. The Division of Biochemistry strives to develop, modify and innovate new teaching methodologies to facilitate better learning amongst students.
The two-year postgraduate course in Biochemistry made under credit system at the Division of Biochemistry, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Galgotias University is effective from the academic year 2015-16. The objective of the programme is to enable the students to develop an integrated approach for understanding the various life science problems at the molecular level.
Also, the department introduced a three year undergraduate programme in Microbiology under choice based credit system at the Division of Biochemistry, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Galgotias University is effective from the academic year 2018-19. The objective of this programme is to ignite young minds to understand the world of microorganism through application based learning.
The Division of Biochemistry, School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Galgotias University is currently offering the following programmes – Ph.D Biochemistry, M.Sc Biochemistry, M.Sc Microbiology, M.Sc Biomedical Science, M.Sc Biological Science, B.Sc Biochemistry, B.Sc Microbiology, B.Sc Biomedical Science, B.Sc Biological Science.
Building Blocks of the Curriculum
Laboratory Internship aims to provide students an insight into the working of a real organization and provides a platform to apply knowledge acquired. It also helps them explore career opportunities as well as develop professional skills.
IV semester in M.Sc.and VI sem in B.Sc. We offer project work. That act as platform for students to gain expertise in the latest techniques and learn to appreciate the applications of the basic science to the field of modern research.
Use of Presentations, Active Group Discussions, Subject related Quizzes, Practical Demonstrations, Seminars, Projects, Workshops/Conferences, Internship
Special Skill Development & Value Added Programs
- Guest lectures, demonstrations, academic visits, events and competition have been regularly arranged to give the students adequate exposure to recent developments in the field of modern research.
- Workshops have been arranged to give the students hands-on training in the field of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology to make them readily employable.
- Internship and projects in various Research/ Academic Institutions, related Hospitals and Laboratories have been arranged , monitored & evaluated as part of the program.
Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biomedical Science and Biological Science are integrated subjects fulfilling the need for basic as well as applied aspects of biology and prepares the students to become entrepreneur, teacher, researcher, or to fit into equipping themselves to the future needs along with the basic and applied knowledge of modern biology. This modern curriculum will benefit our younger generation of students who can contribute to the welfare of the society.
Forensic Sciences encompass the methodology and interpretation of data collected in the investigation of deaths, or other events, which could be criminal. The Forensic Sciences Department at Galgotias University is designed to give students a strong grounding in the different science disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, and physics) that form the basis of the techniques used in forensic investigations.
Students of Forensic Science (PG) learning the skills of crime scene investigation.
