Vidya Lakshmi is a first of its kind portal for students seeking Education Loan. This portal has been developed under the guidance of Department of Financial Services, (Ministry of Finance), Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education) and Indian Banks Association (IBA). The portal has been developed and being maintained by NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited. Students can view, apply, and track the education loan applications to banks anytime, anywhere by accessing the portal. The portal also provides linkages to National Scholarship Portal.
Vidya Lakshmi Portal provides single window for Students to access information about various loan schemes provided by banks and make applications for Educational Loans.

Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme
Government of Bihar, on 2nd October 2016 Launched, Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme to provide financial assistance to those students who are willing to pursue higher education. Under this scheme, the state government provides education loan of upto Rs. 4 Lakh to secondary or senior secondary passout students.
Steps to Apply for Bihar Students Credit Card Scheme
The students who are eligible for this scheme can apply through online portal. Following are the steps to apply online for this scheme.
- Step 1. Visit website http://www.7nishchay-yuvaupmission.bihar.gov.in/
- Step 2. Register as new user.
- Step 3. Fill the basic details.
- Step 4. Student will receive an OTP (One Time Password) on registered number and email id.
- Step 5. After entering the OTP, a new form will open where the student will have to submit personal details.
- Step 6. After submitting personal details, 3 options will appear.
- Step 7. Select the student credit card from the 3 option and fill details in new form.
- Step 8. After filling the form details click the submit button.
- Step 9. The Unique ID Number will be sent on the registered mobile number, after successful form submission.
- Step 10. The student will also receive a PDF copy of Submitted form and details of documents required for the further process.

West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme
The Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal has introduced the Student Credit Card Scheme for the students of West Bengal to enable them to pursue education without having any financial constraints. This scheme is designed to support the students to pursue secondary, higher secondary, madrasah, undergraduate and post graduate studies including professional degree and other equivalent courses in any School, Madrasah, College, University and other affiliated institutes within and outside India. Students studying in various coaching institutions for appearing in different competitive examinations like Engineering, Medical, Law, IAS, IPS, WBCS etc., can also avail the loan under this scheme. A student from West Bengal can obtain a maximum loan of Rs. 10 lakhs @ 4% per annum simple interest from the State Cooperative Bank and its affiliated Central Cooperative Banks and District Central Cooperative Banks and Public/ Private Sector Banks. 1% interest concession will be provided to borrower if the interest is fully serviced during the study period. The upper age limit for the interested students has been kept as 40(forty) years at the time of applying for loan. The repayment period shall be fifteen (15) years for any loan availed under this Credit Card including the Moratorium/ repayment holiday. Visit https://www.wb.gov.in/ or https://banglaruchchashiksha.wb.gov.in and click STUDENT CREDIT CARD tab or login to https://wbscc.wb.gov.in Click on REGISTRATION OF STUDENT form option, fill up the Registration of Student form and then Click on Register button to generate user id and password.
