DR. ASHOK SAXENA

Dr. Ashok Saxena is an international academic mentor at Galgotias University and advises the university on matters related to research, pedagogy, international accreditations and institutional linkages. He is a distinguished scholar and academician, who has served as professor and Dean at Georgia Tech, USA, one of the world’s top 10 tech institutions. Dr. Saxena previously held the position of Regents’ Professor and Chair of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (ranked among the top 5 U.S. universities in Engineering) in Atlanta where he still holds the position of Adjunct Regents’ Professor. He served as the Dean of Engineering, Distinguished Professor and the Irma F. and Raymond C. Giffels’ Endowed Chair in Engineering at the University of Arkansas between 2003-12. Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 1985, he was a Fellow Scientist at the Westinghouse Research and Development Center in Pittsburgh, where he worked between 1976-80 and 1981-85. He served as a Research Metallurgist at the National Steel Corporation in Weirton, West Virginia between 1974-76. Between 1980-81, he served as a Reader in the School of Materials Science and Technology at the Banaras Hindu University and did a short stint as a Sr. Manager at the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. in Bangalore. He also held visiting assignments at GKSS Research Laboratories in Geesthacht, Germany and at the National University of Singapore in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Saxena received his MS and Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati, USA in 1972 and 1974, respectively, in Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1970, in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Saxena has made seminal contributions in linear and non-linear fracture mechanics and its application to life-prediction, reliability and risk assessment of structural components and in testing of structural steels. He is the author of over 200 research papers and reference books and two textbooks. He is internationally known for his contributions to the study of creep and creep-fatigue crack growth in high temperature materials used in steam and gas turbine applications. He is a Fellow of ASTM, a Fellow of ASM International and a Fellow of the International Congress on Fracture and winner of numerous awards including the George Irwin Medal from ASTM (1992), the Outstanding Research Author Award from Georgia Tech (1993), the ASTM Fracture Mechanics Medal (2009) and the Wöhler Fatigue Medal from the European Structural Integrity Society (2010). In addition, he has provided engineering consulting services to over 40 companies, institutions and research laboratories and has served on numerous boards of companies and organizations. He serves on the editorial boards of four international journals. He currently serves on the Board of ABET (US Accreditation Body for Engineering and Technology) and as the Vice-President of the International Congress on Fracture.

PROF. SHAM TICKOO
EX-PROFESSOR, PURDUE UNIVERSITY, USA
Prof. Sham Tickoo had joined the Galgotias University, Greater Noida as its Pro Vice-Chancellor on August 1st, 2012 from Purdue University in the United States of America. He is currently an international mentor with the university and provides valuable inputs in academic and administrative matters.
Prof. Sham Tickoo taught as a Professor at Purdue University Calumet, USA. He received the M.S. in Industrial Technology (1989) from Northern Illinois University, Illinois, USA, M.S. in Industrial and Management Engineering (1980) from University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1974) from REC, Srinagar, India. Before joining Purdue University Calumet in 1987, Prof. Tickoo has worked as a Design Engineer, Quality Control Engineer, and Software Developer.
Prof. Tickoo has authored/coauthored textbooks on several major CAD/CAE/Animation software packages like ANYSYS, SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro/ Engineer, NX, AutoCAD, Customizing AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, Solid Edge, 3ds Max Design, Autodesk Inventor, Mechanical Desktop, and VIZ. In addition to North America, his textbooks have been translated and published in Russia, Japan, India, South Korea, and Serbia. These textbooks have brought unmatched pride and recognition to the Engineering Technology Department and Purdue University in general. Prof. Tickoo has obtained over $24 million software grant from ANSYS, IBM and Siemens. He has also developed a website that provides free teaching and learning resources to faculty and students. Since 1992, over half a million users have visited his website and are using the resources on a regular basis.
Prof. Tickoo is also the founder and president of CADCIM Technologies, USA. The company was established in 1992 and is involved with publishing, engineering consulting, software development and training. In 2003, Prof. Tickoo was awarded a US patent for one of his inventions “Self Adjusting Cargo Organizer for Vehicles”. He is currently working on the design and fabrication of two new wind turbines that will significantly increase their power output and can be used to charge the batteries of an automobile.
Purdue University has filed a provisional patent application for one of them “Wind Turbine for Automobiles”. Prof. Tickoo is actively involved in consulting and has served as a consultant to several companies in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and Canada. In 1988-90, Prof. Tickoo developed a software package "SMLayout" that has been registered by Autodesk Inc. as a Third Party Software Product. This software package is currently being used by various companies in Canada and United States. SMLayout is written in the AutoLISP programming language. This software package addresses the needs of steel fabricators and manufacturers of sheet metal products.

DR. RAM S. GUPTA
PROFESSOR, ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY, BRISTOL
Prof. Ram S. Gupta is a senior professor of Civil Engineering at Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI, USA. He holds a Ph. D Degree from Polytechnic University, New York (now New York University); a Master of Engineering from Roorkee University (now IIT, Roorkee); and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) from Jabalpur University, MP. He is an author of three textbooks, a couple of these among the top books in their fields. He was a Fulbright Professor at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur; and Rotary Scholar Professor at Kathmandu, Nepal. He has over 35 years of full time experience in academia in the United States.
