This program aims to enable the students in broad spectrum biochemical processes and research. Biochemistry is an intensive research based subject. It is also an essential subject in the medical profession. The entire modern drug discovery and development programs are highly dependent on the biochemical knowledge of the living system. In this course, our impetus would be to provide the students an opportunity to explore various aspects of state of the art biochemical technologies that are currently explored by the world. The program structure is specially designed to cater the need of the rising demand of industry and academia both.
Cell biology and physiology, Biomolecules and Microbial Biochemistry, Methods in Molecular Biology, Analytical Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, Bioanalytical Techniques, Enzymology, Plant Biochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Neurobiochemistry, etc.
B.Sc. (3 years) with Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, or B.Sc. Microbiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Science (with Chemistry or Biology as one of the subject at graduate level), etc., with min. 50% marks aggregate.
The students would be able to not only understand the intricate biochemical mechanisms in human and non-human systems; they would also be able to utilize their knowledge and skills in the useful modification of those processes for human benefits. There are several areas where students of biochemistry can work. For example, pharmaceutical companies, molecular biology research labs, various teaching institutes, medical colleges, etc.
After completion of M.Sc. Biochemistry degree course, the students can attempt to qualify reputed national eligibility examinations, such as CSIR-NET/JRF, DBT-NET/JRF, ICAR-NET/JRF to name a few. Qualifying these examinations can help them enroll for Ph.D. programs in prestigious institutes.
